The Maui Marathon is Hawaii's longest consecutive running event in the state of Hawaii, and one of the three oldest marathons west of the Mississippi river. Originally founded on Oahu as the Hawaiian A.A.U. marathon in the 1940's, the event was moved to Maui in the early 1970's, and by 1974 was officially titled "The Maui Marathon". Today The Maui Marathon boasts a point to point course that had been voted one of the 10 most scenic courses in the world, with over 17 miles hugging Maui's gorgeous pacific coastline including views of both the west Maui mountains and our neighbor islands of Kaho'olawe, Lana'i and Moloka'i. The Maui Marathon encompasses multiple events, including a Half Marathon, a 5K run, the famous "Front Street Mile" through the historic Lahaina, and a new 10K event.
