Global Marketing Event Services drives the planning and execution of all Avid marketing events around the world – ranging from major global trade shows and customer events to receptions and other events for award-winning broadcasters, musicians, and filmmakers. The team works across the company to make sure that our participation in every industry, customer, and investor event positions Avid as an innovative thought leader building on a rich history.


  • Drives all Avid events globally, relentlessly finding better and more creative ways to organize and present Avid at events.
  • Fiercely asserts subject matter expertise – working with Integrated Marketing in an equal partnership – to ensure that every event is part of an over-arching campaign.
  • Critically prioritizes event opportunities, partnering with Integrated Marketing to maximize limited resources.
  • Aggressively drives business results in a measurable way, based on benchmarks set by Marketing Operations.


    About the Job:


    Avid’s Director of Global Marketing Events leads a team of talented professionals that market and produce externally and internally facing events on a global basis. In addition, the Director of Global Marketing Events will utilize strong leadership and relationship building competencies to set objectives and develop strategies for all events managed by this team. This challenging position provides leadership and management oversight to the department. In this role, you translate broad strategies into structured event marketing plans. You will work with marketing and sales senior management teams to ensure that these goals are established and reported; and provide management oversight to subordinate level team members.


    
Essential Functions:

  • Provide management oversight to the various leadership roles within the function to drive and align all event-related goals to company strategy and execution.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions with the peer managers in marketing, sales, investor relations, analyst relations, technical leadership teams and other functions that are seeking to hold corporate events.
  • Communicate company strategy to employees within your function.
  • Plan and direct activities including planning and implementing forecasts, marketing communications, relationship development, and customer satisfaction.
  • Establish short-term and long-term goals and performance metrics in line with corporate objectives.
  • Foster feedback loop with cross-functional teams to continually measure event effectiveness - define and refine event metrics as part of overall marketing effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to continually refine best practices and standards, and then build on them for future event planning, execution and measurement.
  • Work with marketing teams and creative agencies to develop overall program theme, messaging look and feel as well as digital and physical marketing and communications collateral.
  • Develop budgets for approval and assure adherence once budget is approved.
  • Review management plans on a regular basis.
  • Act as coach, mentor and educator to Marketing Managers within the function.
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure departmental goals are met.
  • Assume responsibility for results, including costs, methods and staffing.


    About You:


    The responsibilities you hold in this role are critical to Avid’s future, and has wide implications. You will have deep event marketing and industry background that includes managing high performing teams who develop and produce global conferences. Experience should include developing and selling sponsorships, event positioning, event marketing, event messaging, event planning, event collateral and branding, event multimedia production, creative services, expo design and planning, event general session design and orchestration, speakers bureau management, vendor contract negotiations and management.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in determining and driving strategy decisions, process changes, business initiatives, etc.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to negotiate win/win solutions to complex challenges
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including presentation skills.
  • Excellent relationship building and negotiating skills.
  • Experience in developing, managing, and executing marketing campaigns.
  • Experience marketing information technology industry solutions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with functional peers across functions.
  • An excellent understanding how technology products and solutions solve business problems.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Marketing and Sales organizations.
  • Prior experience with developing budgets for global events, managing global vendors, controlling costs and delivering flawlessly on time while under pressure.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead, develop and manage professional level employees.


    Education & Experience:

  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to have successfully completed multiple, extremely complex, multi-faceted events on a global scale.
