AMINA THE MUSICAL is a stage play that takes us on a journey into the lives of girls in the Northern part of Nigeria and their travails, the northern part of Nigeria is the toughest for any girl child to live. Child marriage is more prevalent in the Northwest and North East of Nigeria, where 48% of girls were married by age 15 and 44% of girls are married before their 18th birthday. Statistics show that Nigeria records as one of the countries with the highest rate of child marriage. The stage play aims to depict the scourge of child marriage that is prevalent in Northern Nigeria.The Play is centered in a colorful northern setting using songs, drama, and dance to tell different stories on Child Marriage, Female Genital Mutilation, Disability Inclusion, Rape, Poverty, physical punishment, and Sexual Harassment.
