AT&T, Samsung Team Up For Another Music Tour

AT&T and Samsung Mobile have teamed up for their second music tour in less than two weeks, this time announcing their sponsorship of country music star, Keith Urban, and his 'Get Closer 2011 World Tour'. The agreement includes AT&T and Samsung's naming as the presenting sponsor and Urban's endorsement of the Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone, exclusively available to AT&T customers.

As part of the deal, Urban will record vignettes of life on the road on his Samsung Infuse 4G and post them to www.keithurban.net. At concerts, in each arenas concourse, fans will have the opportunity to appear in a video and photo with Keith Urban via green screen technology and share their experience with friends instantly via email, Facebook or Twitter. Additionally, brand ambassadors will be roaming throughout concerts to capture photos of fans using the camera on the new Samsung Infuse 4G smartphone. Fans will be able to receive their photos instantly via email.

"The way I look at what we do on the road is that we create an environment that brings people together," said Urban. "Singles, couples, friends, families, total strangers, all coming together to share the music, the moment and the experience. That's what a live concert is all about to me. AT&T and Samsung are doing the same thing, connecting people and giving them the chance to share all of this magic with one another. So for me, it's not only a natural fit, but an honor to have AT&T and Samsung partner with us and help bring this Get Closer 2011 tour to life!"

The Keith Urban deal comes on the heels of Samsung and AT&T's presenting sponsorship of Glee Tour Live, announced in late May. Both tours are aimed at promoting the Samsung Infuse 4G.

"We seek to reward our customers' loyalty with exclusive opportunities and content, connecting them with the music and artists that matter most to them," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president, Devices, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets. "This is more than a sponsorship, it's a chance to connect our fans to the hottest star in country music and we couldn't be more excited."

According to a report in the Tennessean, Country music fans spent $7.6 billion on cellphone service in 2009 and own 2.3 phones per household.

"Keith Urban's 'Get Closer 2011 World Tour' reaches consumers all over to bring people together – we're thrilled to be a part of this and engage with Keith's fans," said Paul Golden, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Telecommunications America. "Samsung has always helped connect people and this endorsement helps share great products, such as the Infuse 4G, that help people stay in touch whether attending a concert together or on the other side of the country."
