Banana Republic To Launch Mad Men-Inspired Clothing Line

Banana Republic will launch a new Mad Men-inspired clothing line in August as part of an extended marketing collaboration with AMC. The collection is designed by Banana Republic in collaboration with “Mad Men” Costume Designer Janie Bryant and will be carried in Banana Republic’s North American stores and online. As the show's following has grown, the marketing alliance has been a homerun for both Banana Republic and AMC.

Last year, Banana Republic's “Mad Men” Casting Call, a co-sponsored contest where customers enter to win a walk-on role on the award-winning program and a $1,000 Banana Republic shopping spree drew nearly 10,000 entries and more than 7 million votes to determine the finalists. The contest will be run again in conjunction with the new Season 5.

The new collection, featuring nearly 65 pieces, will be attempt to fuse the polish and panache of the 1960s era, featured in the hit TV show. through the Banana Republic lens of affordable luxury and noticeable quality.

“Collaborating with Simon and his team to design this collection was an experience I’ll never forget,” says Bryant. “It’s so rewarding to help create a collection that will allow fans of the series to channel their own ‘Mad Men’ style and take home fashionable items that are modern, not costume.”

“We began our relationship three years ago with the first-ever Casting Call and creating this capsule collection was a natural progression, allowing Banana Republic customers and fans of the series to own fashions inspired by their favorite show,” Jack Calhoun, President of Banana Republic said.
