Chinese Auto Turns To Table Tennis, Signs Major Partnership With ITTF

Chinese automaker, Guangzhou Automobile Group, commonly known as GAC Group, will be the title sponsor for two of the sport's premier global events: the World Table Tennis Championships and the 2013 World Team Cup. The GAC Group and ITTF officials announced the deal earlier today in Guangzhou, China.

"We are exceptionally happy to be sponsoring the 2011 World Table Tennis Championships and the 2013 World Team Cup, two important events”, said GAC Group Chairman, Zhang Fangyou. “We like and see the benefits of being involved with sport; in particular table tennis, as it plays a very important social role within international society."

"The ITTF looks forward to a long and fruitful cooperation with the GAC GROUP”, added ITTF President, Adham Sharara. “We are sure that we will be able to provide an excellent return on investment with extensive television coverage and live streaming of the Championships."

The GAC Group, which is one of China's top 10 auto manufacturers in sales, is no stranger to sponsorship and sports marketing, having also participated in the 2010 Asian Games as a tier one sponsor.
