Fans Design Timbers' Alaska Airlines Plane
The Portland Timbers and Alaska Airlines have announced a winner in their “Paint-The-Plane” contest. Well, actually a tie. Elements of the two first-place designs created by Paul Wright, of Portland, and John Bode of San Mateo, Calif., will be combined into a final design that will remake the Alaska Airlines 737-700 jet and fly throughout the carrier’s network. The contest drew about 500 entries team officials say. As part of the deal with Alaska Airlines, the carrier also appears on the team's jersey.
Unfortunately, the Timbers won't be taking Alaska Airlines to the franchise's first two road games, as the carrier does not currently fly to Denver or Toronto.
“They’re going to try to fly us whenever possible,” an Alaska Airlines spokesperson told The Oregonian.
