Fodor's and Princess Cruises Partner For 'Show Us Your Italy'

Fodor's Travel partners with Princess Cruises to announce the co-sponsorship of travel photography contest, "Show Us Your Italy."

More marketers are realizing that fame and recognition can be more alluring and memorable, as a call to action, than traditional cash and prizes. Yesterday, we wrote about Rockstar offering the chance to appear in a video game, and while Fodor's and Princess target a much different demo, the same principle applies: fame and recognition can be a powerful, not to mention cost-efficient, call to action. Even more so, when you tie-in a peer brand like Princess.

From October 26th through November 30th, visitors to Fodors.com can upload and share their favorite photos and experiences of Italy with other travelers. The winning photographer will receive a suite of Fodor's full-color guidebooks as well as the chance to have their photo published in the upcoming Fodor's Italy 2011. Ten runner-up winners will have their photographs featured in a slideshow on Fodors.com.

"Italy has long captivated travelers," says Publisher, Fodor's Tim Jarrell, "With the stunning natural beauty, world famous cities, exquisite cuisine, sights, history, and culture its no wonder Italy remains one of our most popular destinations. We're excited to partner with Princess Cruises and see the country through the eyes of our travelers."

Visitors to www.fodors.com/contest/Italy can submit a photo and read the full list of rules. Photo submissions will be accepted through November 30, 2009. Fodor's has previously run photo contests for Australia, Ireland, Greece, National Parks, Argentina, Turkey, Israel, Maryland, New Mexico, Costa Rica, California, Florida, and Alaska. Winning photos from these contests can be seen on www.fodors.com.
