Globetrotters & Greyhound Strike Deal

The Harlem Globetrotters now have an “Official Bus" -- Greyhound Lines -- and they plan to put it to good use. Deal terms were not released, but the sponsorship is said to be a three-year, seven-figure deal running through 2013.

For the Globetrotters' upcoming 85th anniversary world tour in 2011, the team will log over 60,000 miles on Greyhound as they travel to more than 200 cities across North America.

“Both the Harlem Globetrotters and Greyhound have a storied history of bringing families together in their own unique way,” said Peter LaPointe, Globetrotters senior vice president, partnership & marketing. “Traveling tens of thousands of miles every year as the world’s premier family show, it’s a perfect fit for us to join forces with a leader in ground transportation.”

Greyhound becomes the fifth national sponsor to join the Globetrotters family for their 85th consecutive year. Yesterday, the team announced renewals with three key partners: Howard Johnson Hotels, America’s Best Contacts & Eyeglasses, and Spalding. Longtime partner Campbell Soup Company, is currently in the midst of a three-year renewal with the Globetrotters.
