ITF & BNP Paribas Renew Sponsorship Through 2016

BNP Paribas, a Davis Cup sponsor since 2001, has agreed to continue its sponsorship of the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas and Fed Cup by BNP Paribas for an additional five-year period, commencing in 2012 through 2016. The agreement also includes sponsorship of Junior Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, ITF wheelchair tennis activities, and the bi-annual Worldwide Coaches Conference and regional coaches workshops. The announcement was made in Lyon at the 2010 Davis Cup semifinal match between France and Argentina.

“BNP Paribas is an outstanding partner for the ITF’s international team competitions,” said ITF President Francesco Ricci Bitti. “As one of the world’s largest banks, with a network in over 80 countries, it is a perfect fit for both Davis Cup and Fed Cup with its global reach. Added to this is BNP Paribas’s love of and commitment to tennis around the world, which is a responsibility that we at the ITF are proud to share with them. We look forward to a long and successful relationship with BNP Paribas, now through at least 2016.”

Antoine Sire, Head of Brand Communication and Quality at BNP Paribas, said: “As the first global sponsor of tennis, BNP Paribas has had an exceptional and close relationship with this sport for more than 37 years. Since its partnership in 1973 with Roland Garros, the relationship with this sport has grown over time reaching global proportions mirroring BNP Paribas’s international development.

“The signing of the partnership with the ITF in 2001, making BNP Paribas the title sponsor of the legendary Davis Cup, was an important step in this evolution. The partnership was extended in 2005 to incorporate Fed Cup, including the junior competition, and in 2009 wheelchair tennis. Valuing loyalty and the exceptional relationship forged with the ITF, BNP Paribas has decided to renew this global partnership for a further five years.”
