MTA Launches $1M+ RFP For Grand Central Tour Sponsorships

MTA Metro-North is soliciting RFP's for a new guided audio tour of Grand Central Terminal, in a procurement contract estimated to be $1,000,000 or more. The new initiative aims to provide a sanctioned tour of GCT to some of the estimated 700,000 visitors it receives daily. Metro-North hopes to generate revenue, in part, through sponsorship royalties.

From the RFP:

"This tour would highlight the history of Grand Central Terminal, focusing on the architecture, recent renovations, unique details, memorable moments, historic events, and special features, etc."

The two sponsorship opportunities associated with the new initiative include:

  • Exclusive Audio Tour Sponsorship

Proposer will be branded as the exclusive sponsor of the official GCT Audio Tour Program, i.e. "The Official Grand Central Terminal Audio Tour presented by XYZ Company." All promotional materials, signage, logos, etc. will contain the company's name/logo. The beginning of the audio portion of the tour will have a short (1-2 sentences) promotion for the company.

  • Exclusive Video Experience Sponsorship

Proposer will be branded as the exclusive sponsor of the GCT Visual Experience, i.e. "The Grand Central Terminal Visual Experience presented by XYZ Company." All promotional materials, signage, logos, etc. will contain the company's name/logo. The beginning of the video portion of the tour will have a short (15-30 second) promotion for the company.

The awarded contract is expected to run for 5 years, with a 3 year renewal option, and includes both tour operations/logistics as well as sponsorship rights. Any sponsorship arrangements secured by the licensee will require pre-approval from Metro-North.
