NFL Lands Official Military Appreciation Sponsor

USAA (United Services Automobile Association), which provides insurance to the military community, will be the first Official Military Appreciation Sponsor of the NFL, beginning with the 2011 season. In addition, USAA also will become the Official Insurance Sponsor of the NFL. Terms of the deal were not released.

USAA and the NFL will use the sponsorship to honor U.S. military members for their service, and engage NFL fans to show their appreciation of the military. The parties said that this is the first time a league-wide corporate sponsorship has been designed specifically to honor members of the military.

"We are pleased to welcome USAA to the NFL family," said Keith Turner, the NFL's SVP of sponsorship & media sales. "We look forward to working with them to reach all NFL fans and even more military, veterans and their families."

"It might surprise those who know USAA well that there are millions of people in the military community -- those who have or are serving and their family members -- who don't know they can be a USAA member," said Joe Robles, USAA president and CEO. "Our mission is to serve all members of this community, and this sponsorship provides a significant venue to achieve that mission."
