OK Go Partners With Google For Customizable Music Video

OK Go, the band that partnered with State Farm on this awesome music video, has teamed up with another blue chip brand to break the mold on music videos. In its latest creation, All is Not Lost, — the band collaborated with Google and the dance troupe and choreographers, Pilobolus, to allow viewers to embed custom messages into music video, which are then danced out. Words don't really do it justice so just watch the video below.

"We all have a song or a personal soundtrack that speaks to us. But it doesn’t always say exactly what we want it to say," Keiko Hirayama, Senior Marketing Manager at Google Tokyo said.

Using HTML5's canvas technology, different shots are rendered in different browser windows that move, re-size and re-align throughout the piece and are timed to the music. If you enter a custom message prior to playing the video, the dancers will spell out your message during the video. Strategically for Google, the partnership demonstrates what can be achieved using HTML5 rather than Adobe Flash.

"OK Go are well-known for their delightfully creative music videos, including Here It Goes Again, their first work featuring half a dozen treadmills, and This Too Shall Pass, based around an extraordinary Rube Goldberg machine—both of which have become extraordinarily popular on YouTube," Hirayama commented. "We’re excited to collaborate with them on another project that finds its natural home on the web."

If you're using Google's Chome browser, you can customize the video with your message at allisnotlo.st/index_en.html.
