Product [Re-]Placement: Beer Giant Asks To Have Product Removed From 'Flight'

Anheuser-Busch has a problem with the number two film at the box office this week. In a rare move, the brand has asked Paramount Studios on Monday to remove Budweiser from Denzel Washington's new movie, Flight. In the movie, which A-B did not pay for placement in, Denzel Washington is portrayed as an alcoholic pilot who frequently downs Budweiser.

"We would never condone the misuse of our products, and have a long history of promoting responsible drinking and preventing drunk driving," Rob McCarthy, vice president of Budweiser told the AP. "We have asked the studio to obscure the Budweiser trademark in current digital copies of the movie and on all subsequent adaptations of the film, including DVD, On Demand, streaming and additional prints not yet distributed to theaters."

Flight earned $25 million at the box office over its debut weekend.
