Ralph Lauren Commits To Making 2014 Team USA Uniforms In USA

In response to the controversy over this year's Team USA uniforms being made in China, Ralph Lauren announced on Friday that it will commit to producing Team USA uniforms for the 2014 Winter Olympics in the USA.

Last night, Ralph Lauren officials released the following statement:

"For more than 45 years Ralph Lauren (NYSE: RL) has built a brand that embodies the best of American quality and design rooted in the rich heritage of our country. We are honored to continue our longstanding relationship with the United States Olympic Committee in the 2014 Olympic Games by serving as an Official Outfitter of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams. Ralph Lauren promises to lead the conversation within our industry and our government to address the issue to increase manufacturing in the United States. We have committed to producing the Opening and Closing ceremony Team USA uniforms in the United States that will be worn for the 2014 Olympic Games."

The official Team USA uniforms from Ralph Lauren were unveiled on Tuesday, but the controversy was ignited after vocal lawmakers such as Sen. Harry Reid, Sen. Charles Schumer and House Speaker John Boehner spoke out against the outsourcing of these uniforms to manufacturing in China.

The USOC later issued a statement standing behind their official outfitter saying "unlike most Olympic teams around the world, the U.S. Olympic Team is privately funded and we're grateful for the support of our sponsors."
