Rio 2016 Signs Bank As First National Sponsor

Banco Bradesco ("Bradesco"), one of the Big Four banks in Brazil, has signed a deal to become the first national sponsor of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, exclusively in the Finance and Insurance Services categories. The sponsorship will grant Bradesco, which supported Rio de Janeiro's bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games, exclusive rights to the Finance and Insurance Services category for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the Brazilian Olympic Committee, starting in 2011.

"The Bradesco sponsorship of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is our way of demonstrating trust in the entrepreneurship of the Brazilian people and of the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is going to be one of the best Olympics in history," said Bradesco Administration Board President, Lazaro de Mello Brandao. "It is notorious the calling for the Brazilian people to produce grand, beautiful things, we want to be together from the very first moment in the construction of this sport, social and economic landmark of Brazil."

According to Bradesco CEO, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi, Rio 2016 started with victory, since it represents the success of an effort that brought together all Brazilians, with renounced participation of the Federal, State and City governments, sports representatives, intellectuals, businesspeople and the common citizen. "It was the victory of the union of all Brazilians. In the eyes of the world, it is going to be the celebration of a Brazil positive agenda, of modernity, work, social inclusion, and economic development," stated him. "For us from Bradesco, it represents a privilege and a thrill the opportunity of participating side-by-side in this great moment in Brazilian life."

"This is a historic moment. We have the honor of counting on a institution of the size, solidity and credibility as Bradesco and Bradesco Seguros as the first sponsors of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games," Rio 2016 Organizing Committee and BOC President, Carlos Arthur Nuzman said, highlighting that the sponsors are essential to facilitate the organization of the Games. "And this first association shows the recognition of the importance of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games as a unique platform and unrivalled opportunity for a brand to expand its involvement with the audience, reach new markets and propel its business."
