Scotts Ready to Play Ball With MLB

Major League Baseball and The Scotts Company have signed a multi-year sponsorship that will make Scotts the "Official Lawn Care Company of Major League Baseball." The sponsorship is the largest sports relationship for Scotts, which makes lawn and garden care products and last year recorded approximately $3 billion in worldwide sales.

Through the deal, fans will be able to purchase special grass seed blends and fertilizers, designed by Scotts and used by the head groundskeeper at each Major League ballpark.

"This is a partnership between two great American brands - the overlap between baseball fans and homeowners is immense," said John Price, Brand Manager, Lawns Marketing at The Scotts Company. "Now fans can use the same Scotts technology and seed varieties used on Major League Baseball fields to achieve premium results on their home lawns."

The first teams to debut Scott's team-exclusive products will be the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Cardinals.

As part of the deal, Scotts will purchase a significant amount of broadcast media commitments and air MLB-themed commercials, while featuring MLB marks on in-store marketing materials.

In addition, Scotts has team deals in place with the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.
