Sheraton Extends Hawai'i Bowl Sponsorship by 3 Years

Sheraton Hotels and Resorts Hawai‘i has signed a three-year extension to remain as title sponsor of the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl through 2013.

“Starwood and Kyo-ya are committed to supporting the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl in its effort to provide the community, and the University of Hawai‘i, with a premier sporting event,” said Keith Vieira, senior vice president of operations – Hawai‘i and French Polynesia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts. “This partnership ensures a bowl opportunity for the University of Hawai‘i in the ever-changing landscape of collegiate athletics.”

“We hope our contributions will play a part in having a positive impact on the lives of our athletes,” Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ernest Nishizaki added. “We are proud that the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl is ‘made in Hawai‘i, and played in Hawai‘i,’ because it brings national and international recognition to our destination and gives the local residents the opportunity to enjoy the talents of these outstanding student-athletes.

“Our decision to continue this sponsorship was, to a large degree, driven by our desire to ensure the presence of a major college bowl event for our community and to provide the University of Hawai‘i Warriors with a potential venue to showcase the talents of its football team.”

The Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl, which pits teams from the Western Athletic Conference and Conference USA, will be broadcast on ESPN, December 24th.

“We’re thrilled to extend our relationship with such a valued partner as Sheraton for another three years,” said Pete Derzis, Senior Vice President & General Manager, ESPN Regional Television. “This agreement ushers in a second decade of partnership with both Sheraton Hotels and Resorts and the University of Hawai‘i.”
