Sochi's Sponsorship Goal: A Record Breaking $1.4 Billion
With an Olympic record $1.2 billion in domestic sponsorships already secured, the organizing committee for the 2014 Winter Olympics is taking aim at another $200 million in lower level value-in-kind deals.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, head of the Sochi organizing committee, told the AP that he hopes to end the Games with a whopping $340 million surplus.
“We are really confident we will not apply for public money from the state,” he said. “There is an obligation of the state to co-invest in the games, but my goal is to have this money as profit of the games.”
Sochi's domestic partners include Aeroflot, Volkswagen, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bosco, Russian Railways, Rosneft, Rostelcom, Sberbank and Ingosstrakh Insurance Company.
