This Is What Happens When Silicon Valley Comes To Fashion Week

No longer simply the domain of couture and fashion endemic brands, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, via sponsorship, is increasingly home to downright consumer goods like Pepsi, DHL... even Fiber Bars. But when tech companies like Microsoft and Google get involved, well, that's when things get really interesting.

"When we started the shows, 'technology' was not a word associated with Fashion Week," the creator of Fashion Week, Fern Mallis, told BizBash at a recent speaker series on fashion technology. "Digital cameras didn't exist, email was not our religion, cell phones were the size of bricks, and none of them came with eight-megapixel cameras, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. And fashion shows were not called content. Now invitations have bar codes and scanning codes on them, and there's content for everybody, and their tools are in their hands or in their handbags."

With that in mind, here are three innovative examples of "Fash-Tech" being showcased at this week's Spring 2013 Collections.
