UEFA Lands Orange As Eighth Global Partner for EURO 2012

Orange will be the eighth global partner of UEFA EURO 2012 to take place in Poland/Ukraine. The French telecom brand will be the official telecommunications partner in 11 European countries. The 11 territories included in the sponsorship agreement are Armenia, Austria, France, Luxembourg, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

As part of the agreement, Orange will benefit from perimeter boards exposure, and will, together with UEFA, develop and distribute the official mobile application to ensure football fans across the Orange territories experience and share the passion of UEFA EURO 2012. As part of its activation programme, Orange will also offer fans the chance to win match tickets for UEFA EURO 2012 through various competitions and promotions.

"We are delighted to welcome Orange and TP to the UEFA EURO 2012 sponsorship family, UEFA Events SA CEO David Taylor said. "We expect UEFA EURO 2012 to be a huge success and are excited about the prospect of taking Europe's elite national team competition to Poland and Ukraine. As Host Broadcaster for UEFA EURO 2012 it is crucial we have best-in-class services from Orange and TP, our technology partner, in order to deliver the live match signals from Polish stadiums to UEFA's many broadcaster partners and then on to football fans around the world."

Orange, which has in the past used soccer sponsorship to grow awareness as it expands to new markets in Europe and Africa, is seventh largest telecom operator in the world

"In addition, the various Orange consumer services to be developed for UEFA EURO 2012 will ensure fans across the Orange territories have new ways of enjoying and sharing the passion for Europe's flagship national team tournament," Taylor said.

"This is a significant and exciting announcement for Orange. It is the largest pan-European sponsorship project we have ever done, and a testament to the strength of our brand and its growth across Europe," Olaf Swantee, Executive Vice President of Europe for Orange. "We put people, as UEFA puts its fans, at the centre of our values. It's a great fit - and together we bring customers and fans closer to the things they love."

Today's announcement comes on the heels of UEFA announcing its first national sponsor, home improvement chain Epicenter K, for Euro 2012 in Poland.
