Who's Ready For The Bitcoin Bowl!?!

In an effort to move bitcoin into the mainstream, BitPay, a merchant processor of the much-hyped digital currency which just raised $30 million, has agreed to sponsor a major bowl game. The St. Petersburg Bowl (formerly Beef O'Brady Bowl) will be renamed the Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl for the next three years.

"Our goal is to continue to move bitcoin into the mainstream and sponsoring the St. Petersburg Bowl offers us that opportunity," said Tony Gallippi, Executive Chairman for BitPay. "College football fans and the bitcoin community represent a similar target demographic - tech-savvy men between the ages of 18 and 40."

Naturally, tickets and game merchandise will be available for purchase with bitcoin through Bitpay's processing services.

Would you accept bitcoin for your sponsorship fees? Do you think this sponsorship will help achieve BitPay's goals of making bitcoin a household currency here in the U.S.? Chime in below...
