Winnipeg Launches Website for Muni Sponsorships
Want to sponsor a police helicopter in Winnipeg? Here is your chance.
A while back we posted about the City of Winnipeg's sponsorship shortfall and it appears that Winnipeg is jumping into action. Winnipeg recently launched the website, sponsorwinnipeg.ca, a dedicated portal to showcasing sponsorship opportunities throughout Canada's eighth largest city.
"Winnipeg, like other cities throughout North America is facing ever increasing challenges to deliver and maintain services and facilities for its citizens," Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz writes on the site.
"Through the Sponsor Winnipeg program, for the first time ever, businesses, organizations and individuals can now sponsor some of the City of Winnipeg’s most visible assets and contribute directly to the City in which they do business and leave a lasting legacy of improvement for our community."
Winnipeg could still use some work on the listed benefits of sponsorship. Most of the six "sponsor benefits" listed on the site focus on what the community needs/will receive, rather than the sponsor:
There is no mention of what categories would be excluded from the listed offerings.
"As a partner in Sponsor Winnipeg, you can help make a direct impact on improving our City and at the same time, receive significant exposure for your organization," Katz says. "From sponsoring a new community centre, to naming a City Pool or providing transportation for disadvantaged youth, your participation in the Sponsor Winnipeg Program can make a major impact on the lives of our community."
