The Preakness Stakes is an American flat Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-olds held on the third Saturday in May each year at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. It is a Grade I race run over a distance of 9.5 furlongs on dirt. Colts and geldings carry 126 pounds ; fillies 121lb . It is the second leg of the US Triple Crown, with the Kentucky Derby preceding it and the Belmont Stakes following it. The horse must win all three races to win the Triple Crown.
BALTIMORE, May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- When thoroughbreds take to the horse track on May 21, there will be COWs among them. AT&T* today announced it has set up two Cell on Wheels (COWs) to beef up its wireless network for crowds attending the signature springtime event. The mobile cell sites, one located in the Infield and the other at a southern parking lot area, will provide additional wireless coverage and capacity throughout Pimlico Race Course.
