The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is a federation of 38 separate health insurance organizations and companies in the United States. Combined, they directly or indirectly provide health insurance to over 99 million Americans. The history of Blue Cross dates back to 1929, while the history of Blue Shield dates to 1939. The Blue Cross Association dates back to 1960, while its Blue Shield counterpart was actually created in 1948. The two organizations merged in 1982, forming the current association.
HARBORCENTER is a hockey-themed mixed-use development under partial construction in Buffalo, New York. The building occupies a full 1.7 acre city block formerly known as the Webster Block, directly across from and connected to the First Niagara Center and the Erie Canal Harbor or "Canal Side". The building is also located near the southern terminus of the Erie Canal Harbor station. The building is part of an overall effort to improve the Buffalo Waterfront.
