The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is a federation of 38 separate health insurance organizations and companies in the United States. Combined, they directly or indirectly provide health insurance to over 99 million Americans. The history of Blue Cross dates back to 1929, while the history of Blue Shield dates to 1939. The Blue Cross Association dates back to 1960, while its Blue Shield counterpart was actually created in 1948. The two organizations merged in 1982, forming the current association.
Race 13.1 produces first class Half Marathon, 10k, and 5k races in mid-sized cities, providing runners 'big race perks with a local race feel.' Race 13.1 is one of the fastest growing half marathon race series in the United States. In 2015, they will grow to more than 20 races in eight states after a successful inaugural season consisting of five North Carolina races in 2014. Race 13.1 is dedicated to providing best in class customer service, which is made evident by the fact that, in 2014, 98% of participants reported that they would recommend Race 13.1 to a friend.
