Air Jordan, also known simply as Jordans, are a brand of shoes and athletic apparel designed and produced by Nike for the now-retired basketball player Michael Jordan, who has served as the figurehead for the brand since its inception. The Air Jordan line is now sold by the Jordan Brand subsidiary of Nike. Air Jordans were first released for public consumption in 1985 , with new designs released annually. The Air Jordan 2012 is the most recent design on the sneaker market and has been promoted with the tagline: "One Shoe. Three Flights."
The Howard Bison and Lady Bison refer to the 17 sports teams representing Howard University in Washington, DC in intercollegiate athletics, including men and women's basketball, cross country, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis and track and field. Women's sports include bowling, lacrosse, softball, and volleyball and men's-only football. The Bison compete in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision and are members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for most sports, except for the women's soccer team which competes in the Great West Conference and the women's lacrosse team which competes in Atlantic Sun Conference.
