The club was founded in 1899 and has grown to 40,400 members. It is best known for its association football team.
The Chinese tyre manufacturer Linglong Tire are to become SV Werder Bremen's newest advertising hoarding partner in the Weser Stadium with immediate effect. Linglong will fill places on the electronic hoarding as well as in the second row of advertising hoardings. The contract with the company from the province of Shandong, south-east of Beijing, runs until the end of the 2014/15 season.
