The Marcus Corporation is a publicly held company headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The company operates two principal divisions: Marcus Theatres and Marcus Hotels and Resorts. One of the company's principal assets, Baymont Motels, was sold to La Quinta Corporation in 2003. Since the 1980s, the Marcus family has become one of the most important philanthropical presences in the city of Milwaukee. The Marcus Amphitheater, a 40,000 seat concert venue on the Milwaukee lakefront, and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts constitute two of the family's most important donations to the city.
In February 2012, it was announced that IndyCar would return to the Milwaukee Mile on the weekend of June 15-16.[5] The event is being promoted by Andretti Sports Marketing, owned by former Indy driver Michael Andretti, and is being billed as Milwaukee IndyFest. [6] The event will include open-wheel racing featuring the IZOD IndyCar Series and the Firestone IndyLights, as well as driver Q&A and autograph sessions, music (acts TBA) and other attractions.
