In 2007, Mazda produced almost 1.3 million vehicles for global sales. The majority of these (nearly 1 million) were produced in the company's Japanese plants, with the remainder coming from a variety of other plants worldwide.

The International Motor Sports Association is an auto racing sanctioning body based in Braselton, Georgia, United States. It was started by John Bishop, a former employee of SCCA , and his wife Peggy in 1969 with help from Bill France, Sr. of NASCAR.
Mazda, which is running a team in the series and also has entries in the support categories, will be the presenting partner of the championship's Laguna Seca race. The Californian circuit is already named Mazda Raceway.
