Mohegan Sun, located in Uncasville, Connecticut, is the second largest casino in the United States with 364,000 sqft of gaming space. It is located on 240 acres along the banks of the Thames River. It is at the heart of the scenic foothills of southeastern Connecticut, where 60 percent of the state's tourism is concentrated. It features the 12,000-seat capacity Mohegan Sun Arena, home of the Women's National Basketball Association's Connecticut Sun. It houses a 350-seat Cabaret Theatre, the 300-seat Wolf Den, and 100,000 sqft of meeting and function room space, including the Northeast’s largest ballroom and 130,000 sqft of retail shopping. It is the home of New London's WMOS FM radio station.

The Big E, also known as The Eastern States Exposition, is billed as "New England's Great State fair". The Big E serves as the de facto state fair for all six of the New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Each of the New England states is prominently represented at the fair. The Big E is the sixth largest agricultural fair in the country, and the largest in New England.

The Uncasville-based casino is stepping up its sponsorships of Massachusetts events as it competes for a resort casino license. Mohegan Sun hopes to build a casino in the town of Palmer that will include a 600-room hotel and a spa. The casino operator’s Palmer arm has signed agreements with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Holyoke’s St. Patrick Day Parade in recent months.
