Football Federation Australia is the governing body for the sport of football in Australia. Before 1 January 2005, it was known as the Australian Soccer Association , which succeeded Soccer Australia in this role in 2003. David Gallop was announced as incoming CEO of the FFA in August 2012 and Frank Lowy is the chairman.
FFA has been the subject of intense criticism for its handling of the banning of 198 A-League fans from matches, which resulted in a fan boycott last weekend that caused a large fall in attendance numbers.
