It was founded in 1906 as the New Balance Arch Support Company. Eschewing expensive advertising campaigns, it has, nevertheless, grown to be one of the largest makers of sports footwear in the world.

The New York City Marathon (branded TCS New York City Marathon and formerly branded ING New York City Marathon for sponsorship reasons) is an annual marathon (42.195 km or 26.219 mi) that courses through the five boroughs of New York City.
Asics, which had a record $1 billion in sales in North America and Brazil last year, up 15 percent, also is being replaced as Los Angeles Marathon title sponsor by the Skechers Performance division of the shoe and apparel company Skechers. That marathon’s name will be changed beginning next year from the Asics L.A. Marathon to the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon.
