Bryce Harper is having a fantastic offseason. He won the NL MVP Award, unanimously. He also dyed his hair an incredible color. Then he got some tremendous workouts in. After that, his hometown of Las Vegas gave him the key to the city. Sounds like a pretty good winter. On Tuesday, he was named a new brand ambassador for New Era’s cap team, which means 2016 is off to a good start, as well. He’ll be featured in the company’s “2016 baseball campaign during Spring Training along with additional MLB ambassadors. The deal has an option to run through 2018,” according to a press release. ““We felt that Bryce was a perfect fit for our brand,” said New Era’s Tony DeSimone, category director of baseball. “Since coming up with the Nationals, he has become one of the best players in the entire Major Leagues and last season’s performance proved that he could be a transcendent player of the generation. He is not only a star on the field, but will continue to gain popularity off the field where his recognizable look and personality with fans really resonated with us.” [Bryce Harper goes head-to-head with SI swimsuit model Nina Agdal in New Era ad] As part of his media tour for his new gig (it’s not his first time working with New Era), the 23-year-old outfielder sat down with Rolling Stone to discuss a few things, most of which were not baseball. Some highlights include: His sister did his “platinum white” hair job. He’s never seen a “Star Wars” movie, but wants to see “The Force Awakens.” He listens to hip-hop when he works out: Biggie, Eminem. He might switch up his later at-bat songs, but the first Moby one will stay. He’s got the world ahead of him, a new manager and is now part of a major national marketing campaign. It’s good to be Bryce.
