The club is historically one of the three clubs that have dominated the first tier of Dutch football, the others being Ajax and PSV.[1] These three clubs and FC Utrecht are the only clubs never to have been relegated from the Dutch first division. The Opel name was last seen on Feyenoord’s shirts between 1984 and 1989, and will replace current sponsor ASR from next season. In addition to the first team, Opel will also sponsor the youth and sports club Feyenoord for the same period.
