Qatar Airways Company Q.C.S.C., operating as Qatar Airways, is the state-owned flag carrier of Qatar. Headquartered in the Qatar Airways Tower in Doha,[3] it operates a hub-and-spoke network, linking over 100 international destinations from its base in Doha, using a fleet of more than 100 aircraft. Qatar Airways operates services across Africa, Central Asia, Europe, Far East, South Asia, Middle East, North America, South America and Oceania, and was named Airline of the Year 2012 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards.[4] The airline has more than 20,000 staff, with 14,000 people employed directly and a further 6,000 in its subsidiaries.[5] Qatar Airways will join the oneworld alliance August 2013, according to announcements by CEO Akbar Al Baker and oneworld 8 October 2012.[6]
Emir of Qatar Cup is a tournament played every season by 18 first and second division teams. The most successful is Al Sadd who won the tournament 13 times. Emir of Qatar Cup was played for the first time in 1972, and was won by Al Ahli.[1]
