About Sponsor:
Safaricom, Ltd is a leading mobile network operator in Kenya. It was formed in 1997 as a fully owned subsidiary of Telkom Kenya. In May 2000, Vodafone Group Plc of the United Kingdom acquired a 40% stake and management responsibility for the company.
About Property:
The Kenya Open is a golf tournament in Kenya and has been an event on the European based Challenge Tour schedule since 1991. It was founded in 1967, and has been held at Muthaiga Golf Club near Nairobi every year except 1968, 2004–08, and 2013, when the tournament was held at Karen Country Club.
Safaricom will provide computers and unlimited internet connectivity at the centre to facilitate local and international media as well as officials from the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) who will be relaying news and results to an international audience.
