The Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau (Dallas CVB) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that promotes Dallas as a business and pleasure destination. Its mission is to market Dallas as the ideal convention and visitor destination to the regional, national and international marketplace and to favorably impact the Dallas economy through meetings and tourism. The Dallas Marathon (formerly the Dallas White Rock Marathon) is Texas' oldest marathon and has taken place each December in Dallas, Texas since 1971 (with the exception of 2013 due to winter storms). An official time from the Dallas Marathon can be used to qualify for the Boston Marathon. The course begins & ends in Downtown Dallas and features iconic neighborhoods and White Rock Lake along the way. In recent years, race weekend has included the Mayor's Race 5K, a 5-person relay, and a half-marathon in addition to the traditional marathon race.
