Xterra's triathlon wetsuits launched in San Diego in 2001. Xterra begins by designing them with four key components in mind – comfort, speed, buoyancy and value. Then they're tested in Mission Bay, home of the first ever triathlon in 1974 – the Xterra Wetsuits Mission Bay Triathlon. Xterra's owners are all triathletes themselves. Xterra Boards, a line of inflatable stand up paddleboards, was launched by the company in 2013.
The New York City Triathlon is an Olympic Distance race consisting of a 1500m swim, a 40k bike, and a 10k run. Each year over 3,000 athletes brave the waters of the mighty Hudson River before biking along Manhattan's West Side highway. Finally, athletes put on their running shoes for a run through New York's famed Central Park.
