The Apex Centre is a fitness and recreational facility that is a part of the City of McKinney Parks and Recreation department. This facility is different than other municipal facilities because it is mandated by the council to be 100% cost recovery. The general fund does not support the operation of the building. The good news for this structure means the operations of the building does not impact the tax dollars of the citizens of McKinney. Amenities in the Apex Centre vary from state-of-the-art fitness equipment, group fitness studios, to a basketball gym, indoor track and 4 individual pools. Memberships are mainly comprised of families with 75% of our total membership. The second largest group is our senior memberships at 15%. In 2018, the Apex Centre saw 533,000 check-ins to the facility and in July alone recorded 70,000.
