Founded in 1891, the Coburg Football Club — nicknamed the Lions — is an Australian rules football club based in Coburg, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. The men’s team competes in the Victorian Football League (VFL), with the club also fielding women’s (VAFA), FIDA, and junior teams. The Lions play out of Barry Plant Park (Coburg City Oval), a 15,000-capacity venue that underwent major redevelopment in 2020–21. The club has won six senior VFA/VFL premierships (1926, 1927, 1928, 1979, 1988, 1989) and is a recognized community leader in the City of Merri-bek, with strong ties to indigenous communities and ongoing initiatives around domestic violence awareness.
