The Enga Cultural Show is one of the most authentic displays of ancient indigenous traditional culture found anywhere in the world. Held annually in early August at Aipus Rugby Field in Wabag Town, Enga Province, in the remote Highlands of Papua New Guinea, the three-day festival draws thousands of tribespeople from all six districts of Enga — plus invited groups from neighbouring provinces — to showcase traditional costumes, dances, chants, rituals and skills. Highlights include the mass singsing (traditional dance), initiation and marriage ceremonies, spell-casting for fertility and healing, craft and skills demonstrations (stone axe making, bilum weaving, fire-starting, bridge building), the Enga Made expo of local cottage enterprises, rare wild orchid displays, the Take Anda "wisdom house" museum, and the province's distinctive contemporary sandpainting art form. Engan dancers are known for their iconic black-painted faces and elaborate headdresses. The show is organised by the Enga Cultural Show Society and celebrates its 32nd edition in 2026 (7–9 August).
