Extremely talented and super hardworking, Gary Russell Jr., an American boxer born June 5, 1988, is one of the more notable names in the world of professional boxing. He has held the WBC Featherweight title since 2015, and as an amateur he won a bronze medal in the bantamweight division at the 2005 World Championships. Russell was voted Prospect of the Year for 2011 by The Ring magazine, Sports Illustrated, and ESPN. In May 2018, Russell successfully defended his WBC Featherweight Championship against #1 ranked challenger Joseph "Jo-Jo" Diaz.

Russell is trained by his father, Gary Russell Sr., and he has three brothers who are fighters. They are all named Gary.
