Sports & Athletes - Boxing
Extremely talented and super hardworking, Gary Russell Jr., an American boxer born June 5, 1988, is one of the more notable names in the world of professional boxing. He has held the WBC Featherweight title since 2015, and as an amateur he won a bronze medal in the bantamweight division at the 2005 World Championships. Russell was voted Prospect of the Year for 2011 by The Ring magazine, Sports Illustrated, and ESPN. In May 2018, Russell successfully defended his WBC Featherweight Championship against #1 ranked challenger Joseph "Jo-Jo" Diaz.

Russell is trained by his father, Gary Russell Sr., and he has three brothers who are fighters. They are all named Gary.

Russell’s exciting style of boxing, strong work ethic, charisma and ability to overcome being among the smaller boxers throughout his amateur and professional career to become a world champion has created a massive and loyal following. As a major influencer in professional boxing, Russell, a former Olympian, is internationally known and serves as an ambassador for a cleaner, more transparent profession.

Recognized as having the fastest hands in boxing, Russell is respected by his peers, media and executives throughout the profession. Russell, who is in the prime of his career and considered - in many rankings - as one of the top 10 professional boxers worldwide, has demonstrated in interviews and other speaking events that he has an innate ability to:

• Engage and create a meaningful link with audiences;
• Expand visibility of his message(s);
• Personalize a brand;
• Impact communities; and
• Convey messages in an unobtrusive and acceptable way

Russell’s fan base is continuing to grow as his commitment to addressing a very important social cause is becoming more public. Russell and his business partner works with government, grassroots community organizations and celebrities in sports and entertainment to address our core social cause: bullying within the youth and teen population in the Washington, DC region and beyond.
