Girls on the Run-Chicago (GOTRC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization; offering a positive youth development program dedicated to creating a world where every girl activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams! 2019 marks 20 years of GOTRC’s work to serve and empower girls! GOTRC uses a research-based and academically-validated curriculum, and the power of running, to educate and prepare 3rd - 8th grade girls for a lifetime of self-respect, self-confidence, and healthy living. In 2018 alone, GOTRC served 11,000 girls at 350 schools throughout 8 Chicagoland counties!
Our program combines training for a non-competitive 5K running event with 20 powerful life skills lessons to help build girls’ physical and social-emotional health. The foundation of our curriculum focuses on self-confidence, shown to drastically decrease in our girls’ age groups. Girls on the Run is the only national physical activity-based positive youth development program for girls with compelling evidence of impact in these specific areas of youth development.
50% of girls age 10-13 experience bullying and 30% are made to believe that they aren’t capable of achieving their dream career. Some girls have limited access to trusted mentors. More than 50% of girls in our program reside in under-resourced or unsafe communities, with little or no access to meaningful after-school activities. 70% of our girls require partial or full financial assistance for program fees. In 2018, Girls on the Run-Chicago awarded more than $800,000 in financial support.
In 2019, we are excited to offer the rare opportunity of a Presenting, Title or Champion level partnership for our 5K series: The details:
- 4 event-series across May, June, and November
- 35,000 girls, coaches, families, volunteers, and sponsors
The 5K series sponsorships offer a myriad of opportunities for integrated marketing & communications, direct consumer engagement, CSR and volunteer experiences for employees, including but not limited to:
- Hosting “fun runs” and practice 5Ks at/around company HQ or Chicagoland retail locations
- Hosting and/or participating in panel events focusing on girl empowerment and women in leadership
- Volunteering at the Spring 5K or Fall 5K events.
- Engagement with GOTRC's Chicago Marathon Charity Athlete Team, SoleMates.
- Major branding and exclusivity opportunities at the 5K series
We invite your brand and stakeholders to help us empower the next generation of women, and we welcome your questions and feedback. For more information about Girls on the Run-Chicago and the 2019 5K Series Sponsorship, please contact:
