The Riggin’ Rally is rodeo’s hottest new entity. It brings together the top 30 PRCA cowboys on hand-selected, Top NFR bareback horses in a two-round format. In the qualifying round, the top three rides from each of three sections of eight advance to the ‘sudden death’ championship. Scores from the qualifying round are dropped and the championship is decided on just that last ride. Just like bareback riding itself, there’s no safety and all extreme, risky effort.
The Riggin Rally is back for 2022. Be a part of this great event in Weatherford, Texas on April 9th and 10th at the Parker County Sheriff Posse Arena or in Darby, Montana on June 4th and 5th. The Cowboy Channel will have a live broadcast on April 10th in Weatherford, TX and June 5th in Darby, MT.
History:
Darby, Montana on Labor Day 2020 held a special meaning for the top 24 PRCA bareback riders and 2,100 roaring fans in the tiny town of Darby when the first officially PRCA sanctioned Riggin’ Rally brought its own brand of fireworks to the standing room only crowd in the town that boasts 752 in its entire population.
On Saturday, May 23, 2020, the Steiner family hosted their first annual Riggin’ Rally — inviting the top PRCA bareback riders in the world to come face off in the Texas Hill Country. The 2020 contestants: Tim O'Connell, Kaycee Field, Leighton Berry, Mason Clements, Jamie Howlett, Clayton Biglow, Tilden Hooper, Cole Reiner, Richmond Champion, Taylor Broussard, Jesse Pope, Will Lowe, Jake Brown, Zach Hibler, Clint Laye, Caleb Bennett, Bill Tutor.
The event was closed to the public in 2020 and kept hush-hush among the contestants, but The Cowboy Channel was on the scene to capture all of the action.
