Arts & Entertainment - Venue
The Manhattan Center, home of the Hammerstein Ballroom & the Grand Ballroom is conveniently located at 311 West 34th Street between 8th and 9th Avenues. Our historic venue can accommodate any event from galas and fundraisers to product launches, meetings, concerts, and social events.

The Manhattan Center (originally the Manhattan Opera House) was constructed in 1906 by Oscar Hammerstein as an alternative to the Metropolitan Opera. Four years later Hammerstein was paid $1.2 million dollars by the Metropolitan Opera to stop operating as an opera venue; leading to the elaborately decorated theater being used for a variety of public and private events ranging from vaudeville performances, meetings, galas and concerts.

In the mid 80’s Manhattan Center was expanded to attract music, television and cultural events adding an audio recording facility, state of the art control room and full post production services.

In November 2013, the President of the Manhattan Center, Markus Karr, welcomed Jessica Rothstein Berman as Director of Sales & Marketing and Mike Fiorentino as a marketing consultant to reorganize and rebrand the Manhattan Center. The company has invested millions in renovations to the 110-year old building. Since joining, the Manhattan Center has become a viable venue of choice for New York City.
