Water scarcity is real! We need to tackle this problem now!
Based on the United Nations statistics, over the past century, the global population growth has more than doubled. The African population is the fastest growing in the world. As simple as its sounds, more people we will have in this world, the more the needs for water will be. The water scarcity is both physical and economical. The people in Africa who are lacking clean and safe water, live in countries which are not economically stable. That means those countries don’t have enough money to invest in water as a public necessity for all citizens. If we follow this logic that means that people in Africa will lack clean and safe water for a while, because the population in Africa has to wait for the economic growth of the country that they are living in. That being said, this is an infernal circle that so many people have to deal with on a daily basis.
We can eradicate the water crisis and Run for Humanity is ready to do whatever it takes to do so!
My name is Veronique Bourbeau, the founder of Run for Humanity, and I will be the first female to run across the African Continent from Alexandria, Egypt, to Cape Town, South Africa, that means the entire African Continent. Our goal is to provide clean and safe water (through water filters to the most villages where we will be running in), 1km at a time!
Personally, the lack of clean and safe water in so many different places in the world makes me sick. I witness with my own eyes what the severe consequences of lack of clean and safe water have on people, when I was working in Senegal several years ago. I knew that I had to do something against it. Which is why we created Run for Humanity, a Non profit (501c3 status) where our mission is to change the world by providing clean and safe water to remote parts of the world who don't have access to clean water.
During this African Continent run for clean and safe water, I will complete over 300 marathons, across 19 countries, cycling through 30 pairs of running shoes, 100s of unexpected events, 1000s of new faces, and countless new experiences, as I look to establish a new Guinness World Record as the first woman—— and only the second human—to run Africa lengthwise (North to South). This 1.5 year-long Adventure will connect communities across the world to help make safe water available in African Communities while creating an international conversation on Women empowerment, and humanity. We are all the same and all inter-connected, together we can create a better world.
A professional documentary film will be produced, a second book will also be published and countless of public speaking events will get out of this African Continent run for clean water. This run is a world class event which provide for every partner on board a highest return on investment, not only for the visibility that this run will create, but foremost for the positive impact, and the water that so many people will get access to. Run for Humanity will also create awareness on the world water crisis, so our organization will be in the best position to raise money on this issue, and bring more clean and safe water, through water filters to the world. This African Continent run is the first step, on a more global run! Vero is committed to run the world to provide clean and safe water to all! And it’s exactly what Run for Humanity will be support founder to do! During this run, we will simply change the face of the world, and give water to people who don’t have access to water.
We will be privileged; we will meet so many people from so many countries and villages. We will create meaningful, real, and powerful human connections with the people of Africa. We want to show the other part of the world that we are all the same wherever we come from. This run will show us that it's through water, love and true humanity that we will create a better world, one km at a time! Together, we can change the face of the world!
