Gatorade is a brand of sports-themed food and beverage products, built around its signature product: a line of sports drinks. Gatorade is currently manufactured by PepsiCo, distributed in over 80 countries. The beverage was first developed in 1965 by researchers at the University of Florida, to replenish the combination of water, carbohydrates, and electrolytes that the school's student-athletes lost during rigorous athletic competitions. Its name was derived from the collective nickname of the university's athletic teams, "the Gators".
Eighteen-year professional beach volleyball veteran and champion Albert Hannemann founded the National Volleyball League (NVL) in late 2010 with one mission: to unite the rapidly growing volleyball community and create a sustainable professional beach volleyball tour. As the tour enters its 4th season, the NVL will produce 8 pro events this year. Also in 2014, the NVL has partnered with Rox Volleyball to launch the NVL & ROX Grassroots Beach Series and Membership Program
